We eat a lot of broccoli. One of our favorite vegetables. But just steamed broccoli or other vegetables can be a bit boring. That is why I vary with this cold sesame broccoli dish. Very flavourful and goes well with both fish and meat. Maybe this is a way to get your kids to eat broccoli. The dish is best served cold.
Sesame broccoli
4 servings as a side dish
16 oz broccoli, in small florets
1 tbsp sesame seeds
1 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tsp sesame oil
2 tsp finely chopped garlic
1 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp finely chopped spring onion
Cook the broccoli in a saucepan of boiling light salted water until al dente, about 3-4 minutes. Drain and plunge into cold water to refresh. Drain in a colander and place in a bowl. Fry the sesame seeds in a fryingpan on medium-high heat until light brown. In a small bowl, combine oil, sesame oil, garlic, soy and spring onion. Then add the roasted sesame seeds. Whisk all together. Pour over the broccoli florets and toss to coat. Serve.
Tip
You can make this a day before if you like, just cover with plastic wrap and put in the fridge. Remember to let the broccoli come to roomtemperature before serving.
